Welcome to our advanced theatre production class! This is going to be an incredibly exciting school year, and there will be so many wonderful opportunities for you to be involved in our theatre program. Fall semester, we will begin the year with a production of a one act play which will be taken to competition at the regional, and hopefully state level. We will focus on all aspects of production throughout the course of this semester. This will include but is not limited to:

Producing

Directing

Stage Management

Set Design and Building

Lighting Design

Sound Design

Costume/Props

Music Direction/Orchestra

Performing- Acting, Movement, Singing

Marketing

Sales

All students in this course will learn about each of these areas of production. All students will participate in auditions for various types of performances. All students in this class will participate in one act play competition in some way.  Most of our rehearsals for One-Act will take place in class; however, there may be some after school commitments as we move closer to competition. This will be communicated to you through email and Google Classroom. 

 

Materials Needed:

Students will need to bring their chromebook each day to class

Pencil, pen, and a highlighter 

3-Ring Binder ASAP

All students will need an all black outfit to wear for our one-act performance. There can

be NO logos on the clothing. We will discuss this further in class.

The Addams Family October23-29th 

 

Course Expectations

-Attend ALL concerts and performances. Go ahead and mark your calendars today! 

-Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude towards classmates and teacher at all times.

-No food, candy or other drinks other than water allowed in the chorus room.

 

Class Procedures 

-Be in the classroom when the bell rings. 

-Drop all bags/purses in the back of the room when you enter. 

-Place phone in bag (turned off or on silent) or in numbered wall caddy (turned off or on silent). ***Phones are not allowed on your person during class.  Feel free to use the charging station.

-Find your assigned seat with all materials needed for class within 2 minutes after the bell.

- Feel free to bring a bottle of water to your seat. 

 

Consequences

-Verbal Warning

-Lose any break time class may have to individual work assigned by the teacher

-Change form and parent contact

-30 minutes of detention, change form, and parent contact

-Parent/student/teacher conference

-Office Referral

***Severe disruptions may result in immediate office referral if necessary

 

Academic Honesty Policy

Honesty and integrity are integral components of the academic process.  Students are expected to be honest and ethical at all times in their pursuit of academic goals in accordance with the Morgan County Schools District Policy. Please refer to pages 23-24 in the MCHS Student Handbook for more specific information. 

 

Grades

Students will receive weekly grades throughout this course. These grades will be considered progressive grades. These will include in class activities such as journaling, reading and responding; participation in class activities, performing monologues/songs/scenes with classmates and/or alone, and more. These activities will make up 65% of the students grade.

Then, students will receive summative assessments at the close of a unit such as a performance or a test. This will make up 35% of the students final grade. 

 

Students may exempt the final exam in this class if:

  1. They have an 80% or better in the class

  2. They have no more than 3 absences in this class

  3. They have no more than 3 tardies

  4. They have no missing assignments in the gradebook

  5. They have no outstanding fines

 

Georgia Thespians

Theatre students will have the opportunity to participate in Georgia Thespians with our troupe here at Morgan County. There are many wonderful activities that are provided by the state through this wonderful organization. Our Thespian Troupe #3979 will begin meeting before or after school very soon. Be on the lookout for more information!!!!
